WANTED» ART GALLERY MANAGER: The Greenbelt Arts Center is looking for a new gallery coordinator. According to the GAC, "duties include recruiting and selecting artists to display artwork in our lobby gallery, assisting in hanging and taking down the displays, organizing opening receptions if desired, and occasionally coordinating with other Greenbelt art galleries for community shows." AROUND MD » Be a part of history and celebrate the state's history in the Civil War. The Maryland Historical Society will be hosting a Star-Spangled Banner project, which is a work of public art. They'll be making a new flag in honor of the bicentennial of the Civil War battles. (Prince George's County has some history with the Battle of Bladensburg.) A public sewing day will be held this Sunday, Aug. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. Register for the event online: http://www.mdhs.org
WEATHER » Today’s rain might come during the day, but it’s more likely to arrive at night, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m. but a 60 percent chance after 8 p.m. Accuweather.com, however, reports that flooding may be possible in streets and areas with poor drainage.
