Greenbelt City Council Preview: May 23
City Council meets Monday night to hold a public hearing on the budget and take up legislative and business matters.

Greenbelt City Council will meet Monday at 8 p.m. in the Council Room in the Municipal Building to discuss agenda items and legislation that will affect the city. Council will also hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2012 budget.
Council will hear several presentations, including:
- Memorial Day poppy presentation from Unit 136, American Legion Auxiliary;
- Click it or Ticket Month proclamation, a seatbelt enforcement campaign
- Peace Month proclamation;
- Awarding the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Certification to city clerk Cindy Murray, who attended school over the past three years in order to fulfill the IIMC's education requirments.
Council will also hold the public hearing on the FY 2012 Budget.

Council plans to hear two committee reports:
- Advisory Committee on Education, Report #2011-2, regarding recognition of National board certification and the Agnes Meyer Award;
- Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, Report #2011-1, reviewing of the Charter.
The council will take up legislation on a resolution of support for Greenbelt Travel Services, which is required by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Neighborhood Businessworks Program prior to its determining whether to give grants (2nd reading, adoption).

- Award of bid for tennis court lights;
- Community oriented policy (COPS) grant application;
- Envision Prince George's.
