Greenbelt Promotes Police Lieutenant

Last month, the Greenbelt Police promoted Lt. Carl Schinner to captain on Jan. 28.

Captain Schinner will continue to oversee the daily operations of the uniform patrol officers and the department’s communication unit as the patrol division commander, which is his current position.

Since 1987, Schinner has served the department as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor and collision reconstructionist, but before his most recent position he ran the Office of Professional Standards.

Schinner has also been named the Greenbelt Police Department’s Officer of the Year three times since his career began in 1987, one of many accomplishments that he holds for his service.
