Meeting Round-Up: City Council Nov. 8
Transit restructuring and biennial questionnaire were the main topics at Monday's meeting.

The city council meeting began Monday night with recognition of Beverly Palau, the city of Greenbelt's public information and communications coordinator.
Palau was commemorated because it is Municipal Government Month and she helped plan the Municipal Government Works 2010, an interactive online quiz on Greenbelt's City Government for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade.
The rest of the meeting moved very quickly as council approved a letter for the Prince George's County Transit Restructuring Plan. Council worked with to come up with additions to the plan.

Mayor J. Davis said one of TRU-G's concerns was education. They asked that bus route changes be advertised on the city website, the newsletter and also inside the bus shelters at the stops themselves. All of these requests and others were composed in the letter.
The other major order of business was the PowerPoint presentation of the 2009 Election Questionnaire. This is a biennial questionnaire taken by residents to rate how well the city government is serving them and covers a wide variety of categories.

The results of the questionnaire, taken by 770 residents revealed that overall, Greenbelters were satisfied with their government. The lowest scores went to Spring Hill Lake Recreation Center, the dog park, parking enforcement, street lighting, traffic control and animal control. Council plans to take these results and improve where they can.
