What's Up With the Green Line: Weekend of Aug. 5-7
A look at what you need to know about the Metro this weekend.

Greenliners, you are off the hook this weekend for scheduled work, unless you are planning to transfer. In particular, if you are thinking about switching over to the Red Line, be aware Metro has major track work in store for the rojo people this weekend.
Red Line
Friday at 10 p.m. through closing on Sunday

- Buses will replace Red Line trains between Rockville and Bethesda stations.
- Twinbrook, White Flint, Grosvenor and Medical Center stations will be closed.
- Metro will operate free shuttle buses between Rockville and Bethesda stations. Local shuttle buses will make stops at all intermediate stations (Twinbrook, White Flint, Grosvenor and Medical Center). In addition, express shuttle buses will operate directly between Rockville and Bethesda.
- On Friday and Saturday, the last train will depart Shady Grove 45 minutes earlier than usual — at 1:58 a.m. Saturday, and at 10:58 p.m. Sunday.
- Metro mentions Metrobus J and Q routes among other alternatives for customers wishing to avoid the work zone.
- Metro recommends customers traveling through the work zone should allow about 45 minutes of additional travel time.
Blue Line
Sunday, Aug. 7

- Due to VDOT bridge replacement work near King Street Station, Metro has decided to replace Blue Line trains with buses at Van Dorn Street and Franconia-Springfield stations, all day.
- Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street stations will be closed.
- Free shuttle buses will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Eisenhower Avenue stations via Van Dorn Street station.
- Metro recommends affected customers allow 30 additional minutes of travel time.
Blue and Orange Lines
Friday at 10 p.m. through closing on Sunday
- Blue and Orange Line trains will share one track between Eastern Market and Stadium Armory stations as Metro replaces rail fasteners.
- Customers should allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time through this area, according to Metro.
