What's Up With the Greenline: Weekend of July 22- July 24

The major work slated for this weekend is on the Red and Orange Lines with some track work on the Green Line.

Greenliners will see some track work this weekend, but Metro expects no delays as a result. If you’re transferring to the Orange or Red Lines, however, expect delays in work zone areas.

Unless otherwise indicated, work zone adjustments on all lines will occur from 10 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday.

Green Line

Green Line trains will share one track between Navy Yard and Anacostia stations as crews perform track work.

Orange Line

Customers traveling through work zones should allow 20 to 30 extra minutes of travel time according to Metro.

Trains will not run between East Falls Church and West Falls Church, free shuttle buses will run in their place, and stations will remain open. This change will occur to accommodate construction paving the way for connecting the new rail line.

At the Vienna station, the last train will depart 20-minutes earlier than usual, at 2:08 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights and at 11:08 p.m. on Sunday.

Trains will share one track between Vienna and West Falls Church, while Metro replaces ties and insulators.

Red Line

Metro states Red Line customers should allow 30 minutes of additional travel time.

Red Line trains will share one track between Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square stations to allow for ceiling repairs at Farragut North, rail fastener replacements, new emergency phones and communication cables.

Between 9:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, every other train leaving the Shady Grove station will terminate at the Dupont Circle station. Every other train leaving the Glenmont station will terminate at Union Station. Trains will also be subject to delays due to single tracking. The last train departing Glenmont will leave 11 minutes earlier than usual — at 2:26 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and at 11:26 p.m. on Sunday.

Farragut North Station

The north entrance (L Street/Connecticut Ave., NW) at Farragut North station will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday due to construction. Metro states customers should use the K Street entrance instead.
