Texas man sentenced to two years in prison for deadly BW Parkway crash (foxbaltimore.com) — A federal judge in Greenbelt has sentenced a Texas driver to two years in prison for a deadly, high-speed drunk-driving crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Prosecutors say he was traveling about 117 mph and over the legal alcohol limit when he lost control, hit other cars, and crashed into a tree, killing his front-seat passenger.
   

2. NASA's New Mission Will Expose Earth's Invisible 'Halo' (scitechdaily.com) — NASA’s latest space-weather mission is being managed from Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, tying our city directly to cutting-edge research on Earth’s outer atmosphere. The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory, now en route to a million miles from Earth, will film the planet’s faint exosphere “halo” to improve astronaut safety and deepen understanding of atmospheric escape and planetary habitability.
   

3. Kilmar Abrego Garcia to remain free from immigration custody for now • Missouri Independent (missouriindependent.com) — A high-profile federal immigration case is unfolding in Greenbelt, where a judge has decided a wrongly deported Maryland resident can remain out of federal custody through the end of the year. The ruling follows months of legal back-and-forth over how the government may detain him and whether he can instead relocate to Costa Rica, while his U.S. citizen family remains in Maryland.
