Greenbelt Gunfight Injures Young Bystander

A gunfight between at least two people Tuesday afternoon resulted in an injury to a young bystander who apparently was struck by a stray bullet, Greenbelt Police said.

Police said a youth was hit while walking home at about 6:23 p.m.

The youth was treated in an area hospital and has been released, police said.

One of the suspects is described as a black male, wearing tan shorts, no shirt and red and black sneakers. Police ask anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at (240) 542-2133.

Police notified Patch about this Friday, although it happened Tuesday.
