February 14, 2012—E-Moxie announced today the hire of Shawn Grimes, widely regarded as one of the leading experts in the Baltimore area on Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS. In his new role, Grimes will oversee all iPhone and iPad mobile app development for the firm, which is squarely targeting this exploding market.

A certified information systems security professional (CISSP), Grimes brings more than 14 years experience in software and Internet applications to his new role. Grimes has been involved in iOS app development since 2009, developing a number of apps available in the iTunes App Store, including the iVulnerable utility for researching information security vulnerabilities and PosePad, which helps photographers manage their work flow. In addition to these industry-specific apps he has also developed fun apps like the popular PondHopper game and ProCon, which helps users weigh decisions, big and small.

Prior to joining E-Moxie, Grimes owned Shawn’s Bits, an app development company based in Baltimore, and was a frequent speaker and blogger providing iOS tutorials and tips to developers throughout the area.  Previous employers include the National Institute on Aging, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, IBM and Legg Mason.

According to firm co-founder  Chris Stone “There is not a huge pool of available talent when it comes to people who know what they’re doing with mobile applications. With Shawn joining the E-Moxie team, we are making one of the foremost iOS experts around available to our clients and strengthening our position and offerings in the mobile application space.”

Grimes says he is looking forward to helping solidify the firm’s role in the mobile app development niche. “I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with the E-Moxie staff through different workshops and industry events and always been impressed with the fact that they are able to have fun while doing great work. I’m excited to be partnering with them and offering their clients the expertise to deliver relevant mobile marketing solutions,” says Grimes.
