From Don Osman:
As a former teacher at Havre de Grace High School, I am always pleased and proud when one of my former students decides to make a difference in our community. That has been the case with many graduates who have chosen to call Havre de Grace their home, who have settled here and raised their families, who have established businesses or who work in the City or other areas of Harford County, who volunteer with the local fire department and in our churches, schools, museums, hospital, nursing home and other community and civic organizations and who serve in our local, county and state government. These individuals truly reflect our school’s motto: “Enter to Learn; Leave to Serve.”
Recently, one of my former students, Dave Glenn, announced that he too, wants to make a difference by running for City Council. I have known Dave since he was a student in my English class at the Havre de Grace Middle School. I also have had the privilege to teach his wife Terri, his brother Don and his daughter Kellie.

Throughout Dave’s life, he has demonstrated his commitment to his family and community. In addition to his endeavors cited in his letter published in the April 20 edition of the RECORD, Dave has also volunteered at the annual S.M.I.L.E.S. Thanksgiving Dinner. His willingness to serve others is an integral part of the man that he is.
The responsibility of serving on City Council is a demanding one. On May 8, I hope that the citizens of Havre de Grace will agree that Dave is capable of meeting the challenge. His heart, mind, and soul are focused on what is best for our citizens and our city today and in the future – educational opportunities and programs for our youth, public safety, water and sewage concerns, economic and business growth and tourism.

Dave and his family are part of the fabric that makes Havre de Grace such a special community in which to live.
