Officer Aaron Sandruck Recognized For Traffic Safety Efforts

Officer Aaron Sandruck was recognized recently for his outstanding efforts in traffic safety.

During a Sept. 7 gathering of Maryland law enforcement agenices, Sandruck was recognized as a Traffic Safety Specialist Award Recipient, according to a news release from Havre de Grace police.

The award recognizes officers for "exceptional levels of experience, training and proficiency in highway safety and traffic enforcement methods and procedures," the release said.

"Clearly these award recipients epitomize the spirit of the TSS program," Thomas J. Gianni, Chief of the Maryland Highway Safety Office, said in the release. "Effective traffic enforcement translates to fewer crashes, fewer injuries, and fewer deaths on our roadways. Traffic safety is public safety, and we congratulate the awardees on their very distinguished achievement."

The release noted that the Maryland Police and Correctional raining Commissions awards the designation, which is available to all officers in state agencies.

Sandruck was at a January City Council meeting.

At that meeting, it was stated that Sandruck was responsible for 69 arrests—16 DUI arrests and 21 drug-related arrests—in 2011 while working the 4 p.m. to midnight shift. He also issued the most traffic citations in the department.
