BGE: Thanks for Your Understanding

Baltimore Gas and Electric vice president thanks customers for patience during last week's debilitating winter storm

The following is a letter to the editor from Baltimore Gas and Electric:

Last week’s snow storm was one of the worst winter storms in BGE’s history.  More than 236,000 customers lost power—65 percent more than during the back-to-back-blizzards of last February combined. The heavy wet snow took its toll on trees and tree limbs which fell onto power lines and other electric delivery equipment.

To the customers affected by this storm, BGE extends its sincere thanks for your patience and understanding.

More than 2,300 dedicated BGE and contract employees, out-of-state linemen and support staff, worked around-the-clock to ensure service was restored as safely and as quickly as possible. The utility workers who assisted BGE from Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia were invaluable during this massive restoration effort.

Rest assured, BGE will continue to monitor approaching weather systems and proactively identify and secure the appropriate resources to ensure electric service is restored to our customers as safely and as quickly as possible. Customers are reminded that they can get helpful information on how to prepare for power outages and follow BGE’s restoration progress at bge.com and on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
