Fight involving snow shovel ends with two men at Harford Memorial Hospital

A dispute between two Havre de Grace men last week that involved a snow shovel being used as a weapon ended with both men at .

Officers responded to the 200 block of Seneca Avenue around 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 28 in reference to a dispute between two men. As officers arrived, they witnessed one man swinging a snow shovel at the other man, striking him with it.

The dispute then turned to physical hand-to-hand fighting.

Officers ordered both subjects to the ground, and the men eventually complied.

One man was transported directly to Harford Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other subject was transported to the police station before complaining of injuries, at which point he was also transported to Harford Memorial Hospital.

Lawrence Allison Barclay, Jr., 42, of the 200 block of Seneca Avenue was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a concealed deadly weapon, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Charges are still pending against the other man.
