NKFMDDE Announces Three New Board Members

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (June 21, 2023) –The National Kidney Foundation Serving Maryland and Delaware (NKFMDDE) has elected the following individuals to a three-year term on its board of directors:

• Greg Hoey − Regional Account Leader with Astrazeneca. With 25 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, Hoey has garnered President’s Club, Center of Excellence honors. In 2016, he helped launch a product for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), relatively unaware of the burden of the disease and the impact to those in his community. As he began to understand the challenges to the patients and their families, he joined the NKFMDDE to help increase awareness and support – initially advising on outreach in Delaware. A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Hoey resides in Baltimore’s Roland Park community.

• Mohamed Ibrahim, MD − Assistant Professor of Transplant Nephrology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. After finishing medical school in his homeland of Egypt, he moved to the United States for further training. In addition to conducting basic and translational science research at Duke University, he completed general nephrology training at the University at Buffalo and transplant nephrology training at Washington University. He has co-authored more than 60 journal articles and initiated multiple international research collaborations in South Korea, Singapore, China, Egypt and The Netherlands. Interested in advancing medical technology and improving the standard of care in transplant monitoring, Dr. Ibrahim holds five patents and patent applications for innovations in bio-sensing, and currently is completing PhD training in bio-sensing at Erasmus University. A Baltimore City resident, Dr. Ibrahim plans to leverage his prominent social media platform as an NKFMDDE board member to raise awareness of CKD and the Foundation.

• Mike Rolfes −Vice President of Sales IT, 1Rivet. A developer/application architect turned business development professional with 25+ years of experience in the IT industry, Rolfe listens to organizations’ challenges and partners with them to build solutions for their specific needs. After attending The George Washington University on a baseball scholarship and earning a bachelor’s degree in statistics with a concentration in computer information systems, he played two years of minor league baseball before joining 1Rivet. His involvement with the NKFMDDE began five years ago as a committee member for the Rappel for Kidney Health signature event. As a board member, he now looks for others ways to spread awareness, help get people healthy and raise funds for this important community need. Rolfes resides in Carroll County’s Taylorsville community, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two grown sons.
