Oriole Advocates To Collect Sports Equipment at Camden Yards on June 29

First Cardboard to Leather event of year prior to 1:35 p.m. game vs. Tampa Bay Rays

The Oriole Advocates and the Orioles Advocates Charitable Foundation (OA/OACF) are hosting the first of two Cardboard to Leather™ collection days at Camden Yards on June 29 prior to the Orioles 1:35 p.m. game versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The Advocates will be collecting used (but still usable) baseball/softball equipment at collection stations outside all open entry gates into the ballpark beginning at noon when the ballpark gates open. The second C2L day at Camden Yards will be on August 24 prior to the Orioles game versus the Houston Astros at 1:35 p.m.

The OA/OACF will also conduct a silent auction of sports memorabilia on the lower concourse near Gate E to benefit the Cardboard to Leather™ program. Fans will have the chance to bid on baseballs, photos, bats, and jerseys autographed by current Orioles players. The auction will begin when the ballpark gates open and will conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Monetary donations will also be accepted in the form of cash or through a QR code donation.

The Oriole Advocates created the Cardboard to Leather™ program in 1992 to provide baseball and softball equipment to underprivileged youth in developing countries. Since the program's inception, the Oriole Advocates have distributed equipment to youth baseball players around the world in places such as Afghanistan, Aruba, Belize, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Serbia, Venezuela, and throughout the United States.

The C2L program ships over 500 boxes of equipment per year, which has benefited more than 17,000 children in a dozen countries since 1992.
