• Hyattsville Author Publishes New Learn to Read Children's Book (hyattsvillewire.com) — A longtime Hyattsville resident has turned a story she wrote for her nephew into a newly published bilingual children’s book, “Run, Sparky, Run.” Beth Kantrowitz, a familiar face at Driskell Park and along the Anacostia, raised funds locally and worked with a hybrid publisher to bring her scientifically accurate squirrel tale to young readers. 
• Grad students struggle with high rents (streetcarsuburbs.news) — Graduate students tied to the University of Maryland are increasingly turning to Hyattsville basements and other distant rentals as College Park prices soar, with one Ph.D. student now commuting from a $1,000 Hyattsville unit. Reduced Hyattsville shuttle service and stagnant stipends are stretching budgets and commutes, as student organizers press for more affordable, closer housing options.
