PGPD Officer Accused of Leaving an Accident Scene

The officer had been suspended on unrelated charges, according to Prince George's County Police.

An officer who has been employed with the Prince George’s County Police for seven years was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, according to the PGPD.

Police Officer First Class Mark Samuels-Thompson was off duty and not driving a departmental vehicle when he was arrested Sunday.

No injuries were reported, however, the Special Investigation Response Team began an administrative investigation on the incident.

“Officer Samuels-Thompson’s police powers had already been suspended at the time of his arrest for internal, unrelated charges. After today’s matter is adjudicated, the officer faces an administrative hearing and the possibility of termination,” PGPD said in a news release.

Another Prince George’s officer was suspended last week after assault charges in Atlantic City. Steven Varga is currently the subject of an internal investigation after the Nov. 26 incident.
