REVIEW: Hank's Chicken Wings

The wings here are explosive but the plate is a bit light on the accoutrements.

For this incarnation of Hyattsville Patch's chicken wings taste test I walked over to at

It was a beautiful day Saturday and people were outside on the plaza in front of Hank's. Some teenagers were hanging out with an electric guitar and an amplifier. It was just a great day to be outdoors.

Inside Hank’s I was ushered to a booth where a friendly waiter took my order—spicy wings, teriyaki wings and a diet pop.

Nom.

(Since I’m only comparing Buffalo wings in this feature, I’ll set aside the teriyakis for a midnight snack).

These wings were soupy. The meat was tender and the wings fairly large.

However, if you can’t take the heat, get out of Hank’s.

“Spicy” is relative and this time it meant, “Grab a slice of bread and stuff it down your throat after you eat these.” On the Buffalonian hot wings scale (though that scale is also relative) I’d say these babies were about a 7. Thank goodness for the two celery and two carrot sticks on my place, which I used to cleanse my palate after each bite.

That brings me to another point—there was definitely not enough of either veggie on my plate. I could’ve used about 10 more celery sticks to go with the mound of wings. But the side of ranch dipping sauce was plentiful and tasty. I’d have preferred bleu cheese though.

On a scale of 1-to-10, I’d give Hank’s wings a 7.
