With the warm weather the cherry blossoms may be blooming early, however, the centennial celebration will begin today. The <a href="http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">National Cherry Blossom Festival</a> official begins March 20 and this year the festival will celebrate with a five-week festival to mark 100 years since Japan gave the United States those trees. If you plan on heading down to the tidal basin, taking the metro may be easier than driving. Also festival organizers suggest visitors come during early morning hours to avoid crowds.
