Mormon Church Closed For Maintenance

Driving west along the beltway it's hard to ignore the castle like structure atop a hill.

But for the next week, the in Kensington will remain closed, while the temple is cleaned and repairs are made, according to WUSA9. It was the first Mormon temple built in the eastern U.S., the tv station reported.

According to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' website, the temple is 288 feet tall and 160,000 square-feet inside and sits on 52 acres.
