Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center Seeks Food for Shelter Residents

Help is needed from community groups or individuals to prepare or buy 150 meals per day for families living in the shelter for the homeless

The Grassroots Crisis Intervention shelter for the homeless on Freetown Road in Columbia serves 3 meals a day to approximately 50 people in residence there – that’s 150 meals each day. Grassroots depends upon community organizations and individual supporters to provide those meals.
The meal program is very organized, and Grassroots even includes menus for reasonably priced, simple, nutritious and delicious meals on its website, although you can, of course, prepare your family favorites.
Preparing meals for people in the shelter for the homeless is a great project for a church or civic group or any organization. Some choose to buy carry out meals from restaurants or send in a donation to buy food for the Grassroots staff to cook ($150 covers the cost of one dinner) instead of cooking themselves.
Grassroots is in critical need of meals for August. Sign up to provide a meal here. Make your donation here.
