Laurel Not Participating In County Bulky Trash Pick Up: Official

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The new Prince George's County curbside pickup program that allows two bulky items to be placed with the regular trash does not apply to city of Laurel households.

Laurel's department of public works has received numerous phone calls about the new county program, but the city isn't part of it, officials noted. However, the department has formed an internal committee to examine the feasibility of implementing a similar program.

In the meantime, per the current city ordinance, to request a special bulky pickup, residents must call 301-725-0088 or email dpw@laurel.md.us on a Monday before 4 p.m. to have those items picked up on the following Wednesday.

All special bulky pickups have a base fee of $10, which includes many house hold items. To see a list of these items, visit https://www.cityoflaurel.org/dpw/refuse/bulky-items or call 301-725-0088.

Some items do have extra fees that are charged per item in addition to the base fee. Items with an extra charge include:

• major appliances
• electronics
• large furniture
• remodeling debris
