• NASA's Center for Geospace Storms Releases New Space Weather Model (nasa.gov) — Laurel residents might be interested to know that Johns Hopkins’ Applied Physics Lab in Laurel helped lead a major NASA breakthrough in predicting space weather. Researchers there released the powerful MAGE model, which combines multiple simulations to better forecast how solar storms affect Earth, satellites, power grids, and even future Moon and Mars missions. The tool is now publicly available to scientists worldwide.
