LHS Gala Celebrates “All Together Again” and Mayor Craig Moe

Celebrating community and honoring Laurel's retiring Mayor Craig Moe, the Laurel Historical Society's Gala returns on Sunday June 4, 2023.

Celebrating community and honoring Laurel’s retiring Mayor Craig Moe, the Laurel Historical Society’s Gala returns on Sunday June 4, 2023. The first gala in three years, this year’s theme “All Together Again” highlights the importance of community and connects to the Laurel Museum’s current exhibit ”It’s All Laurel”. Retiring Laurel Mayor Craig Moe will be honored at the event, which is being held from 5-9pm in the Great Room at Savage Mill.

“An annual Gala is an LHS tradition we had to cancel for three years because of the Pandemic and its aftermath. We had to miss both Laurel’s 150th Anniversary and the Laurel Museum’s 25th. This year we plan to make up for lost time with a fun, joyous event that celebrates all parts of our community, its history, resilience and future,” stated LHS President Denise Redmond.

“The City of Laurel has been a vital partner and critical to our success. This evening is a fitting opportunity to honor someone who has had such an important impact on the city and on the LHS. In his 21 years as Mayor Craig Moe has been a steadfast supporter and we are grateful,” added LHS Board Chairman Karen Lubieniecki.

According to Redmond, Michelle Keating, and Dave Singleton, who Co-Chair the event, the evening will feature fine dining, festive drinks, an auction of unique experiences and gifts, and special performances. Funds raised support the programs, exhibits, collection and overall operations of the Laurel Historical Society (LHS), located at 817 Main Street in Laurel. The LHS operates the Laurel Museum in an 1840s mill worker’s house. Gala tickets are $110 non-members/$100 members, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
