The Mall Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Free Events Saturday
Barre and Yoga Classes, "Columbia's Got Talent" Competition, OB/GYN Providers On-Site, Vaccine Clinic, Community College and Police Displays

The Mall in Columbia, one of the most beloved institutions in the community, is celebrating its 50th birthday with a month-long series of events for the public. The focus of the activities, according to Senior General Manager Barbara A. Nicklas, is showcasing the Mall's community connections and partnerships of the past 50 years.
Nicklas has planned events for four consecutive Saturdays in September, each with different themed activities and participating partners. The second series of events is set for Saturday, Sept. 11. The theme is "Healthy, Safe and Strong Community."
The Center Court Celebration Stage will feature two free classes from the Columbia Association, a Barre class, from 11-11:45 a.m., and a yoga class, from noon-12:45 p.m. Toby's Dinner Theater will take the stage from 1:30-3 p.m. with "Columbia's Got Talent!" This showcase of local singers is open to the first 40 people who email columbiasgottalent9.11.21@gmail.com to secure their 1-minute "audition" spot in the Sept. 11, show.

Also in the Center Court will be Howard Community College with a staffed table, from noon-4 p.m., the Columbia Association staff from Sports and Fitness, from 1- 4 p.m., and the Howard County Police Department with a recruitment station, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Demonstrations and work by mosaic artist and Wordgifts artist Sondra Jordan will be featured throughout the day.
On the Outdoor Plaza on Ring Road, from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Howard County General Hospital will bring its OB/GYN Providers, HCGH's Signature OB/GYN Practice and Johns Hopkins Community Physicians to answer questions and discuss women's health concerns.

From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Mobile Integrated Community Health (MICH) in partnership with the Howard County Department of Health will offer a free COVID Vaccine Clinic.
From noon-2 p.m., Howard County Fire & Rescue Services, Howard County Office of Emergency Management and the Howard County Police Department will be site with their vehicles and displays, as well as staff to answer questions and provide safety tips.
Every celebration Saturday will feature strolling players, including jugglers, balloon twisters, stilt walkers and bubble blowers. Retailers will have activities and specials.
