Scholarships Available For High School Seniors Entering STEM Fields

A scholarship opportunity is available for high school seniors in Prince George's County who plan to pursue a career in STEM fields.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A scholarship opportunity is available for high school seniors in Prince George's County who plan to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

The Innovation Scholarship Program will provide up to 30 cash scholarships for graduating seniors in the county who commit to STEM majors in 4-year, 2-year, or registered apprenticeship programs. Applicants must be a resident of Prince George's County their senior year, and attend school in the county.

Graduating seniors who have been admitted to a 4-year STEM program can receive up to $1,000. Those admitted to a 2-year program or a registered apprenticeship program can receive up to $500.

Applicants must also engage in leadership and community services, and attend a virtual financial literacy training hosted by WealthyGen, the nonprofit sponsoring the scholarship. The scholarship is also sponsored in part by council member Mel Franklin's office.

The application deadline is Nov. 7 at 11:59 p.m.
