• Plastic Bag Ban Takes Effect Jan. 1 in Montgomery County (mymcmedia.org) — Starting Jan. 1, 2026, every shopping trip in Montgomery Village will be affected as Montgomery County’s plastic bag ban takes effect, requiring you to bring reusable bags or pay 10 cents for paper. The new law, which exempts SNAP and WIC users from the paper bag fee, aims to cut plastic litter in creeks, parks, and neighborhoods countywide.
