• Montgomery County Public Libraries closes branches on Sundays starting Jan. 11 (wjla.com) — Montgomery Village residents who rely on county libraries should prepare for most branches to close on Sundays starting Jan. 11, with only nine locations countywide remaining open. The system says the change will ease staffing strains and improve work-life balance, while also rolling out perks like limited free printing and video game lending for patrons.
   

• Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols just made a big transfer portal statement (atozsports.com) — A former Penn State defensive lineman from Montgomery Village, Xavier Gilliam, has committed to transfer to the University of Tennessee, where he’s expected to play a major role on the Volunteers’ defensive line. Local football fans may enjoy tracking his progress in the SEC, as he brings experience in Jim Knowles’ system and three seasons of eligibility to his new team.
