Charles Street Art Plaza Installation Detours Local Traffic

A $28 million reconstruction of the roadway is currently underway in Charles Village.

Charles Street between 33rd and 34th streets will be closed starting Monday so work on a public arts plaza may begin.

The closure will stay in effect until the $28 million reconstruction of one of the city’s major roadways is complete. The project is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2014.

According to the Charles Street reconstruction website, local traffic on Charles Street will now have to turn left or right at 33rd Street. Vehicles turning left will be rerouted to Calvert Street and traffic headed left will be forced to take Art Museum Drive.
