Sinkhole Opens In Baltimore, Second In Less Than 2 Weeks: Reports

A third sinkhole caused by a water main break also blocked traffic in Baltimore County on Thursday, according to reports.

BALTIMORE, MD — A sinkhole opened in Southeast Baltimore on Thursday, the second in less than two weeks, according to reports.

Residents of the area told WBAL the sinkhole opened along South Collington Avenue and damaged a nearby car.

"I get home to find my car, which was parked right out front of my house, in the sinkhole," Baltimore resident Lindsay Henkel told WBAL.

The sinkhole was the second in less than two weeks after a small sinkhole swallowed a Jeep's tire on South Montford Avenue, according to a separate WBAL report.

On Thursday, a third sinkhole snarled traffic in Baltimore County, according to a CBS Baltimore report citing public works officials. Officials told the station the sinkhole was caused by a 12-inch water main break in the 3500 block of E. Joppa Road, near Walther Boulevard, in Parkville.

Meanwhile, Baltimore residents expressed frustration with neighborhood road conditions and what they called lack of action by the city.

"It's very frustrating. Just trying to do the right thing. Right? Putting in multiple tickets, trying to go through the proper channels,and just feeling ignored," Brystal Gwinn, who lived near the Montford Avenue sinkhole, told WBAL.

The Department of Public Works told WBAL they are investigating the reports.
