LUCKY 13! Anniversary Art Exhibition & A Big Year Ahead

Inclusive Baltimore Art Center Kicks Off It's 13th Year with Annual Celebration

Baltimore, MD –Make Studio is pleased to invite the art-loving public as well as our many friends and fans to officially kick off our13th program year at the annual member artist exhibition and celebration Lucky 13 in our Showroom Gallery. Make Studio’s “lucky 13th” year – having thrived for a “maker’s dozen” – promises to be especially exciting for our artists and audiences alike.

Make Studio was founded in 2010 to support and amplify the remarkable artistry of neurodivergent, disabled, and mostly self-taught artists. Every year that we exist, and our collective persists in their making, our anniversary is set aside as a time to highlight and proclaim our pride for each artists’ unique style and story. After a pandemic-induced slowdown that gradually eased up at the end of 2022, Make Studio is ready to celebrate our packed programming calendar and that we are in the midst of a “population boom” of new artists working in the studio.

Our official “birthday party” will be held open house style in Make Studio’s Showroom gallery at 3326 Keswick Road in Hampden on Saturday, February 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees are invited to stop by and meet the artists and view their new and notable pieces on display. Free and open to the public, the reception will feature artist remarks (including reflections on “superstitions”), music, fun and interactive art-making, and an array of refreshments including the always popular birthday cake. Lucky 13 will otherwise be on view during Make Studio’s usual hours and by appointment from February 27th-March 25th, with an accompanying digital exhibition at www.make-studio.org. Event updates will be shared on our social media.

Looking further ahead in 2023, Make Studio will be undertaking compelling member and guest artist exhibitions and collaborations, to include an examination of Drawing In One’s (Special) Interest and solo show “Featuring Tony LaBate” in April, an exploration of Invisible Disability and a Disability Pride mini-festival in the summer, as well as national/international progressive art studio showcases in the fall. We hope all will follow along and join us for these and other events!
