MCVET 2022 5K/10K Veterans Day Virtual Run & Walk Set for Nov. 4-11

Signature event helps Maryland veterans overcome homelessness, addiction & unemployment

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc. (MCVET) – the nation’s premier program for helping homeless veterans and veterans in need heal and achieve independence, self-sufficiency and permanent housing – invites those near and far to participate in its 2022 5K/10K Veterans Day Virtual Run & Walk.

Runners and walkers can operate at their own pace – outside or on a treadmill – alone or with a group of friends, from Nov. 4 through 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) to complete 3.1 miles for the 5K or 6.2 miles for the 10K.

“With the community’s continued support of our Veteran’s Day 5K/10K Virtual Run & Walk we can remain a beacon of hope and keep our unsung heroes from sleeping on the streets of Maryland,” said MCVET Interim Executive Director Adobolia T. Buford.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and virtual thank you messages from homeless veterans. They also will be automatically entered in prize drawings taking place Nov. 11 for gift cards/

certificates from brand stores, hotels, restaurants and steakhouses and online merchants.

Richard Stafford, president and CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union, will serve as Race Marshall. A leader in the financial industry for more than 30 years, he currently serves as president of TowerCares Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) public charity that supports children in need and military veterans and their impacted families.

Proceeds from the Veteran’s Day 5K/10K Virtual Run & Walk will help MCVET continue to provide Housing, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling, Education & Employment Services, Case Management and other comprehensive services to help veterans rejoin their communities as productive citizens. Entry fees are $35 with online registration available at runsignup.com/mcvet.
