'Shero' North Baltimore Mom Of 4 Puts Family First

NORTH BALTIMORE, MD— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Cassandra Richardson who nominated Wanda Shaw of North Baltimore.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My daughter is her kids' Shero. Wanda is there with her four children from the time her feet hit the floor at 4am. First is the prayer every morning over her children, then breakfast, getting them to and from school. The children are all athletic, so she takes them to practice, goes to games and picks them up. Wanda also maintains the 5-bedroom house which they live in. She makes sure they have a full balanced hot meal everyday. Her children range from 18 in college, 14 in high school to two in elementary school. She is my younger daughter, and I feel she deserves the best. There is so much she does I can't put in all on one letter. But, she also takes very good care of her parents.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She is a SHERO
