Schools are closed but employees are on code blue in Baltimore on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Public schools in Baltimore will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

District offices will open two hours later than usual, Baltimore City Public Schools officials announced, and employees are on code blue.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Baltimore until 10 a.m. with up to 0.25-inch ice possible from freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service, which said slippery roads were in the forecast until temps rise to the lower 30s Tuesday morning.

The Maryland State Highway Administration advised there were isolated icy patches on roads, particularly on elevated surfaces, and state transportation officials recommended delaying travel plans.
