The Y In Waverly Is Hosting Turkey Trot 5K

The Weinberg Y in Waverly is holding its 5th annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.

BALTIMORE, MD — On your mark, get set...The 5th annual Turkey Trot 5K is planned to take place this Thanksgiving morning in Baltimore. It is a rain or shine event, so before loading up on turkey, families can get outside and get moving.

Participants may walk or run the 3.1-mile course, which starts at Stieff Silver, 810 Wyman Park Drive.

The course runs from in front of the Stieff Silver building through Druid Hill Park and concludes at the Stieff Silver building. Parking is at Stieff Silver, Boy Scouts of America, Wyman Park Drive at Carnegie Way and around Druid Hill Park.

Dogs may attend, and pooches who register in advance get a complimentary bandanna. Strollers are also welcome.

The event is sponsored by the Y of Central Maryland. Proceeds go toward financial aid for youths who live at or below the poverty level.

The Baltimore Y in Waverly is not the only one hosting a Turkey Trot. The Y locations in Arnold, Bel Air, Ellicott City, the Eastern Shore, Perry Hall, Towson and Westminster are also participating.

Turkey Trot participants do not have to be current members of the Y. If not a member, registration grants a 30-day free membership.

The Baltimore 5K Turkey Trot will be at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23, at 810 Wyman Park Drive. Registration is from $5 to $42.
