5 Useful Things To Know Today: Jan. 10

Five things to help you through your Tuesday.

1. Rain was forecast for yesterday and we instead found ourselves once again looking at snow flurries. It seems only a matter of time before North Potomac and Darnestown (and Montgomery County, for that fact) gets hit with the real deal.

Today's high should be in the low 50s and it will be partly cloudy with zero percent chance of precipitation.

2. Continuing a recent trend between the two schools, Wootton and Churchill will once again be featured in the Patch Game of the Week. The Rockville and Potomac schools won the voting for their Friday ice hockey game.

3. If you happen to be looking for a deal on lunch or dinner (and let's be honest, who isn't?),

4. In case you missed it: Montgomery County police confirm Thurgood Marshall Elementary School faculty member Marie Doggett as the woman struck by a vehicle in the 16100 block of Orchard Grove Road the evening of Jan. 5.

5. On this day in history: Thomas Paine's Common Sense, which greatly influenced the authors of the Declaration of Independence, was published in 1776. The first General Assembly of the United Nations convened in London in 1946.
