Photos: Patriots Knock Off Walter Johnson

Wootton varsity ice hockey defeated Walter Johnson, 7-3, Friday, Jan. 27.

The Wootton Patriots varsity ice hockey team extended its win streak to two games with a 7-3 win over Walter Johnson, Friday, Jan. 27.

Wootton was led in scoring by sophomore defenseman Austin Schoenfeld and freshman center Adam Kaplan. The pair registered a hat trick and two goals, respectively.

The game was also marked freshman goalie Aaron Cooperman's first varsity start in a league game. Cooperman made 18 saves in the win. Starting goalie Jake Mitchell was out with an illness.

The Patriots meet Whitman for the second time this season at 4:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Rockville Ice Arena in a battle for second place in the Montgomery Hockey Conference.

Whitman defeated Wootton, 2-1, in the only previous meeting between the two teams this season.
