Rockville Man Dies In Crash On River Rd. In North Potomac

A Rockville man died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in the Travilah area of North Potomac, Montgomery County Police said.

NORTH POTOMAC, MD — A Rockville man died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in the Travilah area of North Potomac, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

At about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of River Rd. and Stoney Creek Rd. for a report of a crash.

The driver of one of the vehicles, 79-year-old Sam Mingsan Chen, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

Police detectives determined that the driver of a 2019 Ford F-550 was traveling westbound on River Rd. At a stop sign, the driver of a 2012 Toyota Camry, Mingsan Chen, was making a left turn from southbound Stoney Creek Rd. onto eastbound River Rd. when the crash occurred.

Montgomery County Police said its Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information about the fatal crash is asked to contact CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
