After Shots Fired, Police to Meet With Community

The community will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Waugh Chapel Elementary School to discuss Monday's incident.

Local police officers will host a community meeting Thursday to discuss a shooting incident in the Chapelgate neighborhood earlier this week.

Commanding officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department Western District will be on hand Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Waugh Chapel Elementary School.

Officers will talk to the community about concerns stemming from an incident Monday night on Cadbury Drive, in which a man fired bullets through the window of a home. A family with several children was home at the time, and a 19-month-old girl sustained cuts from broken glass.

A suspect in the case is still at large. Police said the man may have been driving a red, burgundy or maroon Ford Crown Victoria.

The incident has raised concerns about a possible rise in criminal activity in the Chapelgate area.

In July, police arrested a man in connection to a shooting that left two people hurt on Chapelview Drive, and there have been other reports of drug-related activity.
