Arundel Eliminated from Lacrosse Playoffs, South River Advances

It was a tough Friday for the Arundel lacrosse teams, as both the girls and boys fell in the MPSSAA state tournament.
The Arundel boys were upset 11-9 by Chesapeake, while the girls fell 14-9 to top-seeded Huntingtown.
South River, however, remains alive in the tourament with both its teams advancing. The Seahawk boys topped Broadneck 11-7 and will play at Huntingtown on Monday.

The girls secured a big 19-1 win over Northern High on Friday, and will next host Huntingtown.

The Arundel baseball team earned a first-round bye in the state tournament, setting up a second round matchup against local rival Old Mill on Monday.
Old Mill moved to the second round by beating Glen Burnie 7-4 on Friday.
South River, which also had a first-round bye, will host Chesapeake on Monday at 5 p.m.
Meade High advanced to the second round with a 5-1 win over Leonardtown. The Mustangs will face county champion North County on Monday at 4 p.m.
Old Mill and South River Alive in Softball
The softball teams from Old Mill and South River advanced into the second round of the state playoffs. Old Mill was a 17-1 winner at Meade, while South River beat North Point, 8-3.
Old Mill will next play Monday at Glen Burnie, while South River will play at No. 2 seed Broadneck.
The Arundel softball team fell in the first round of the playoffs, 11-0 to North County.
