Arundel Mills Mall Shooting Victim IDed As Harlem Man, 31: Police

The Arundel Mills mall shooting victim has been identified as a Harlem man, 31. He was found shot in the Maryland mall's parking lot.

HANOVER, MD — Police on Monday identified the victim of this weekend's Arundel Mills mall shooting as 31-year-old Yant Junior Gomez of Harlem, New York.

Officers said they found Gomez shot Friday evening in the rear parking lot nearest the Hanover movie theater complex.

Detectives think this was a targeted shooting, not a random act of violence.

Authorities said they were called around 9:30 p.m. to 7000 Arundel Mills Circle for a report of the shooting that had just happened.

Patrol officers assigned to the Arundel Mills entertainment district said they arrived within two minutes of the initial call.

Police said they found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso and immediately attempted life-saving care.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department arrived soon after and assumed care.

Medics took the victim to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, but authorities said he died during transport.

Homicide detectives are still investigating. They have not yet announced any potential suspects or motives.
