Board to Vote on Enclosure of Open Space Classrooms at Meade
Open classrooms at public schools are going away.
The Anne Arundel County Board of Education will vote on a contract relating to the plans to enclose open space classrooms at Meade High.
The board will consider a design schematic from Smolen Emr Ilkovitch Architects. Plans call for the closure of classrooms constructed when "open" classrooms were in fashion. County schools have recently undergone several projects to enclose these classrooms.
The value of the schematic design is $5.31 million, according to AACPS.
Open classrooms were fashionable in the 1970s, but the school system has been working to build walls to divide the classrooms for several years.
The school board had been scheduled to vote on the plan on Wednesday, but the meeting was canceled due to snow. Is is not clear now when the plan will be placed on the school board's agenda.
Construction on the Meade High project is scheduled to start in October.
