Defense Media Activity Gets New Director

Ray Shepherd is officially running one of the newest agencies at Fort Meade.

The Defense Media Activity at Fort Meade has its first director in nearly a year.

Raymond Shepherd is the new head of the agency, which opened at Fort Meade last year.

Defense Media Activity was formed by the merger of all of the military's broadcast, publication and online arms. It was installed at Fort Meade as part of the base realignment and closure activities completed last year.

"They took Army broadcasting, Army public affairs, all the websites, the photography ... all of those things are in one building," Shepherd said in the most recent edition of Meade Week, produced by Fort Meade's public affairs office.

Prior to joining DMA, Shepherd was the Senior Vice President, Operations for the Warwick Consulting Group. He also once served as the CEO of the Red Cross in Northern New Jersey.
