Fatal Crashes In Crofton, Glen Burnie Each Kill 1, Hurt 1: Police

Fatal crashes in Crofton and Glen Burnie each killed one and hospitalized one, police said. The deceased were 22 and 25 years old.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Two separate fatal crashes each killed one and hospitalized one in Anne Arundel County, police said recently.

Crofton Crash

Officers said the first crash happened in Crofton on Nov. 2 around 9:20 p.m.

A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV was traveling north on Crain Highway at Johns Hopkins Road when it was struck from behind by a 2023 Hyundai Sonata sedan, authorities said.

Police said the Hyundai left the travel lanes and came to a rest off the roadway.

Officers said the Anne Arundel County Fire Department pronounced the Hyundai driver, identified as 25-year-old Thomas Wilson Swick of Odenton, dead on the scene.

Medics took the Jeep driver to a hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. He's expected to survive.

Glen Burnie Crash

Police said the second crash happened in Glen Burnie on Nov. 6 around 12:20 a.m.

Officers said a 2004 Acura RSX sedan was driving west in the eastbound lane of Dorsey Road when it struck a 2015 FRHT Box Truck head-on near Asphalt Road.

Authorities said the Acura driver, 22-year-old Melvin Obdulio Jimenez Y Jimenez of Silver Spring, died after he was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The box truck driver also went to shock trauma with minor injuries, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

Both collisions remain under investigation.
