Fort Meade Resident Nabs $5,000 for College
The award is part of a nationwide program to support military spouses and children.

A Fort Meade resident has $5,000 to put toward college, thanks to a national grant program to support the spouses of military service members.Â
Mary Banaszynski was awarded the grant to help her pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Anne Arundel Community College. According to a press release, Banaszynski would like to pursue a career constructing bridges.  Her husband is U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Daniel J. Banaszynski.
Mary Banaszynski was one of 20 recipients from a grant program formed by John Picerne, the CEO of Corvias Military Housing. The Our Family for Families First Foundation was founded in 2006 and has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships to 90 military kids, plus $815,000 in educational grants to 163 military spouses. The Foundation has awarded $606,000 to 21 recipients at Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground since 2006.
