Fort Meade Soldier Killed; Wife Charged
Johnnie Sutton, a decorated member of the Army, died Friday after suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest. His wife has been charged with second-degree murder.

The Fort Meade community is mourning the death of a decorated Army soldier, and his wife has been charged with murder.
Johnnie Sutton III, 38, died in his Laurel home Friday, apparently after suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest.. Over the weekend, police arrested Marquita Berry-Sutton, 30 and charged her with second-degree murder.
Berry-Sutton surrendered to authorities Saturday, according to police.
The couple's 21-month-old child was present at the time of the incident, but was not injured, police said. The child is now in the custody of relatives.
Fort Meade officials said Sutton was a Florida native who joined the Army in 1994. During his career, he received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Anne Arundel County Police and the Army Criminal Investigation Command continue to investigate.
