Francis Cut By Patriots Before First Game
The Severn native is still waiting to suit up for his first NFL game.

Last week, Patch reported that Severn native A.J. Francis would likely suit up for his first regular season NFL game with the New England Patriots.Â
It looks like he'll have to continue waiting.Â
The Patriots cut Francis from the roster just prior to the Patriots opening game Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, reportedly to make room for running back Leon Washington.Â
The Patriots had picked up Francis shortly after the Miami Dolphins waived him on August 31.Â
ESPN.com reported that Francis could remain with the Patriots on their practice squad if he clears waivers. He could also be claimed by another team.  Â
Francis is a Severn native who attended Gonzaga High School and the University of Maryland.Â
