Future of Dairy Farm Site in Question
Funding to transform part of the former Naval Academy Dairy Farm into a park has been cut from the county executive's 2014 budget, the Capital reports.

For years local residents have waited for plans to move forward on a large park at the site of the former Naval Academy Dairy Farm.
It appears that they will have to wait a bit longer, after funding for the park was reportedly not included in the budget proposed by County Executive Laura Neuman.
The Capital reported Monday that while funding for the park project has been included in recent budgets, it did not appear in the budget for fiscal year 2014. The newspaper quoted Neuman as saying she supported the project but wanted to ensure it made fiscal sense.

Currently, the dairy farm is home to Maryland Sunrise Farms, and the county leases the land from the Navy. The long-term plan for the site, envisioned before the economic downturn, called for 176 acres of the 600-acre property to be turned into a public park.
According to the Capital, Neuman's removal of the park money has upset County Councilman Jamie Benoit (D-4th District), who has threatened to slash funding for other parks projects.
