Garrison Workers to Get Furlough Notices
The notices will be hand-delivered between now and June 4.

Garrison workers at Fort Meade will receive letters with details on the Department of Defense furloughs within the next week.
The letters will be hand-delivered by managers and supervisors between now and June 4. Those that are absent or on leave will get them in the mail. The furloughs will impact about 425 garrison workers.
The notices are required by the Office of Personnel Management, and are expected to contain details on the 11 furlough days proposed to keep the DOD in line with mandatory across-the-board government spending cuts, known as sequestration.

The one-day-a-week furloughs would run from July 8 to September 30.
Tenant organizations at Fort Meade are expected to send out their own furlough notices if they are also impacted by the sequestration.
