Heritage Society to Honor Fallen Soldiers

The Odenton Heritage Society will pay tribute to service members killed in action with a new online booklet and display at its museum. 

The society has partnered with Keystone Research Solutions on publishing a booklet profiling all of the Odenton residents killed in action from World War I to today. 

"From Cpl. LeRoy Disney of Woodwardville, who was killed by a German artillery shell in the Meuse-Argonne offensive during World War I, to Lt. Jonas Panik, a Piney Orchard resident and naval intelligence officer who died when a hijacked airliner slammed into the Pentagon, the booklet sheds light on eight soldiers, sailors, and Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country," the society said in a press release.

The booklet is available online at www.odentonheritage.org/upcoming. It features stories about three men who perished in WWII, another who died in Vietnam and two who died during the Korean War. The booklet features accounts from family members, some of whom are members of the Odenton Heritage Society. 

Additionally, the heritage society will open its museum to the public on June 2, and will feature a new display about those killed in action. The display will feature a map, crafted by Keystone, outlining the location of each casualty and providing a narrative.

The museum will be open from 1-4 p.m. on June 2.
